c.1950 Chein, No.265 Musical Mechanical Aero Swing in Original Box

Chein's No. 265 Musical Mechanical Aero Swing was produced from the post-war 1940's until the early 1950's. Over the course of its production history the canopy cap was altered from a metal flag to a metal cap and then to a plastic cap. This example has the metal cap without flag. It's in excellent+ to near mint condition and comes complete with its original box.

The Chein company is famous for their accurate and playful rendition of mechanical tin litho amusement park rides. They were all brightly colored, easy to use, and sturdy. The Aero Swing is no different. It's a lever driven, spring activated toy with faux litho wooden base, a central cylindrical calliope stalk topped with a kaleidoscopic pinwheel canopy. It four free swinging gondolas were lithoed with laughing children, colored stars and moons, and striping. It produces a musical plinking sound as it revolves and works great!

Historically, Chein packaged their amusement park toys in plain cardboard boxes with printed text. The Aero Swing was the first such toy which came packed inside an illustrated box. All four side panels feature a repeating blue and red sketch of the Aero Swing in motion.

The original hand written hanging $2.10 price tag is still attached to one of the gondolas.
